There are several different types of gas boilers that work in different ways. Your Heating Scotland engineer will advise on what will suits you and your home best.

Combination Boiler:

Combi boilers are an increasingly popular choice across Britain and account for over half of all the new domestic boilers installed in Britain every year.
A combi boiler is a water heater and a central heating boiler in one. This means that you don’t need to install a hot water cylinder separately which can save space, time and money. Combi boilers also offer water through your taps and showers at mains pressure improving their performance, and providing powerful showering at all times.

Conventional Boilers:

Conventional boilers are accompanied with hot water cylinders that are often fed by a cold water tanks. The cold water tank may also be accompanied by a feed expansion tank, both of these are usually located in the loft with the cylinder usually located on the first floor. These setups require a lot of piping and are not the most popular types of systems to be installed these days.

System Boilers:

System boilers operate in a similar way to conventional boilers using stored water from a cylinder, but there are some important differences. System boilers pump the hot water round your system direct meaning faster responses and cheaper running costs. System boilers also have more ‘built in’ components, meaning that your installation can be much tidier and compact. They also remove the requirement of the feed expansion tank.
